There's something excellent about a tangible document in the hand. In an era of iPhones and Blackberrys the printed page can still have a powerful impact. There are even people out there who enjoy reading junk mail! (You're allowed to admit it you know...)
It goes to show that we still appreciate things that endure. Quality and craftsmanship don't quite come over so much on a computer screen, or worse, a mobile phone screen.
There is a craft to good printing that is lost on most people. How to get the best rich blacks and subtle shades. What is the right paper stock to use? Glossy is often not the best choice, despite what the chap at your local "one-stop-shop" might say...
On top of all that full colour printing is cheaper than it's ever been, without sacrifing quality. Gone are the days when we had to stretch the budget to see if we could afford that extra colour. I remember fiddling with duotones to try and get the most out of "black and one colour".
